This icon of St Constantine & Helen was made in Greece. It is set on a gold background and surrounded by silver. The center of the icon is silk screen on wood. St Constantine the Great was the first Roman Emperor to be converted to Christianity after seeing a cross in the sky. His mother, Helen, found the cross on which Christ was crucified in Mt. Sinai.
Both saints' namedays are celebrated on May 21 and names include Constance, Constantine, Helen and Eleni.
Surfaces are made of pure 950 degree silver. Each icon is hand polished and hand hammered on a heavy wooden base. The hand painted sections are egg tempura colors.
