This package contains 1 color egg dye: Red

One package makes 30 eggs total.

Hard-boiled eggs, dyed deep red to symbolize the redeeming blood of Christ, are a Greek (or Eastern Orthodox) tradition at Easter. The egg is further symbolic in that it is an emblem of the Resurrection: it contains life motionless; in like manner, after being motionless in the grave, the resurrected come forth with new life. On Easter and the following week, the general greeting "Christos Anesti!" (Christ is Risen!) and the reply "Alethos Anesti!" (Truly He is Risen!) are heard among the faithful.

Instructions For Making Perfectly Bright Red Easter Eggs:

Choose Brown Eggs without any cracks or marks. Boil them in water (150ml of vinegar per 1lt or water) and let them cool down.
Dilute the dye in 500ml hot water (60-80° C). Choose a pot/bowl with a diameter of less than 20cm. In case the dye becomes lumpy, dont worry. It's completely normal, just keep stirring until they dissolve.
Place one layer of eggs at a time so they are completely covered by the solution. Stir them often and let them sit in the dye solution for 8-10 minutes.
Before each "batch" give the dye a good stir. Be sure that the water stays warm because the dye is activated only by warm water.
Remove the eggs and place them on an absorbent paper towel for 1-2 minutes until dry. Polish them with olive oil for extra shine. The final result depends on the quality of the cell of each egg.
Keep them refrigerated.

International shipping can have up to 3 options:
- UPS International Standard: Delivery takes 3-7 business days.
- UPS International Expedited: Delivery takes 2-5 businesd days.
- UPS International Express: Delivery takes about 1-3 business days.
- UPS International Priority: Delivery takes about 1-3 business days.

Perishables

All orders with at least one perishable item will incur a charge of $12.95 for the cooler and ice packs used to ensure the perishables are delivered cold. If multiple perishable items are purchased, only 1 charge of $12.95 will be included.

Lost And Damaged Packages

Please note that Greek Market is not responsible for most damaged packages and all lost packages. If your package arrives damaged or is lost, please get in touch with us so we can assist with the investigation into the package. In most cases, lost packages will require the customer to initiate an investigation.

A game changer

I used to use regular ol’ food dye to get a bright, red egg. But recently I’ve been reading about Red Dye and how it’s not exactly something we should be ingesting. I was looking for a healthier, safer red dye. It worked amazingly well, paired with beet juice, to produce a deep, almost blood-red color and I know it’s all natural so I feel good about that.
