Orthodox Easter Egg Dye & Icon Lights
One of our customers, Diana Cooper from Toledo Ohio, has the perfect process for making red eggs
We made 20 dozen red eggs for Orthodox Easter, and they were a gorgeous shade of deep red. We used white eggs, but you can get a deeper red from brown eggs. Instead of distilled white vinegar, we used RED WINE vinegar, which is the key to this beautiful shade. I dissolved 1 packet of Greek Dye into a glass of hot water. I added enough cool water to just cover the eggs into a stainless steel steam pan, and added the dye and a glass of red wine vinegar to the bowl and stirred to blend. Add your eggs in a single layer and wait 5 minutes to get the rich results. Remove and let them dry on a rack.
