The Chios gum mastic (mastiha) is the main ingredient of Elma Classic. Mastiha is a natural resin, known since antiquity to the people of Eastern Mediterranean countries, who chewed (masticated) it to clear their teeth and sweeten their breath. It was the very first natural chewing gum of the ancient world.

May contain traces of soy.

Arrived quickly. Packaged well. Taste is as described. Had a hint of “pine†flavor, after all, it is made with resin. Love it! Unlike other gums I’ve tried, leaves your mouth clean and refreshed. Love that it does not have artificial sweeteners!!

As a functional medicine doctor, I try to introduce to my patient natural remedies for common day medical problems. A good section of my patients have indigestion, which I fear may be due to H.Pylori infection. The treatment of this parasite is sometimes worse than the disease and alternative /functional medicine reports that MASTIC gum may alleviate H.pylori as effectively as harsh triple course antibiotics. So I recommend to my patients with history of ulcers and indigestion that have been fully worked out to try mastic gum twice a day and many report relief and alleviation of most of their GI complaints.Unfortunately MASTIC gum is not easily found on the American Market nor do health food stores carry it.
